“I am an intuitive painter; I make a mark and respond. The painting takes form in a dance between myself and the image that is emerging. My work is ethereal and speaks of portals, places and spaces beyond. I find inspiration in geometric and organic shapes found in the natural world.”

A Colorado native, Kathy Friesz began her career in art after graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art in 1984.  For over 20 years, Friesz has enjoyed a career in various design fields including interior design and graphic design.

Friesz’s color sense has become highly developed throughout her career in design.

Using complex and sophisticated color palettes, along with the use of graphite and oil pastels, her art is layered with lovely details to engage the viewer.
